Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a talented Grant Accountant for our client, an inspirational veteran services nonprofit headquartered in the beautiful state of Georgia! The individual selected for this role will serve as a key support staff member for the finance team, working to ensure proper management of all grant funds across the organization. This full-time, fully remote opportunity is for immediate hire!

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Grant Accountant will work alongside the team’s Staff Accountant, Billing Accountant, and the organization’s Development team. The primary areas of support in this position will be in accounting and grant data management, and this role will ensure compliance for all grant funds for the organization as both a grant recipient and a grant applicant. The ideal individual for this role will have a background in nonprofit accounting and grants management and will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and organized to continue furthering this organization’s noble mission!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review grant and contract award processes for documentation and improve as necessary to optimize accurate and timely financial reporting; ensure grant files are auditable at all times.
  • Create revenue recognition memos; acquire necessary signatures as needed.
  • Reconcile grant expenditures to ensure proper coding and allowable expenses; correlate monthly expense transactions to fund sources.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain schedules as assigned.
  • Resolve any issues related to grant tracking, billing, reporting, and management.
  • Complete and track grant requests in Salesforce.
  • Review employee reimbursement reports in Concur system to ensure compliance with internal policies and practices; submit ?nancial reports and billing for grant reimbursement.
  • Participate in the writing of all grant proposals to include budgeting and financials reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development team to review appropriate usage of funds per grant criteria and maximize cost recovery.
  • Work with Director of Finance and Development staff to develop, implement and monitor clear, concise grant/contract administration policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with accounting staff to maintain proper time allocations for employees and expenses coded to grants; work closely with the accounting staff in daily accounting duties as needed.
  • Attend all necessary trainings to meet skill and duty requirements, including grant seminars, computer training courses, and accounting courses.
  • Produce grant financials and coordinate with other staff to ensure timely billing of all grant proposals and reports.
  • Assist in the coordination of the organization’s annual audit, periodic grant monitoring reviews, and other internal and external reviews as necessary.
  • Track deadlines on the accounting calendar and keep the Director of Finance fully informed at all times.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting, preferably grants-based accounting.
  • Proven involvement working with and reviewing grant agreements, contracts, and creating grant-based budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; general knowledge in MS Office Suite and accounting software.
  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality of information.
  • General familiarity with standard office practices and processes, including utilizing standard office equipment and technology.
  • Ability to perform accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master new software applications and technology.
  • Understand and comply with all organization policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical standards.
  • Preferred, but not required, proficiency in the following software: QuickBooks Enterprise, Concur, Google Suite, Bill.com, and/or Salesforce
 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
In addition to a fully remote work environment and an annual salary in the range of $52,500 - $57,500 (DOE), this role offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
