Scion Executive Search (www.scionexecutivesearch.com) has been retained to lead a search for a Chief Executive Officer for Vista Autism Services in Hershey, PA.

SUMMARY

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s growth to fulfill its mission, creating and sustaining a healthy culture, and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, setting the strategic direction of Vista Autism Services.

THE ORGANIZATION

Vista began nearly 20 years ago in a small building with two classrooms for school-age kids. It has been growing ever since. Among other things, we’ve expanded our center-based school dramatically, we’ve added classrooms in school districts like our new Consortium Vista Educational program (CoVE), we created a number of programs to serve and support adults and we’ve developed an early-intervention program. In all of those efforts and in everything we do, our mission remains front and center: to advance and innovate, to improve lives and to inspire hope for individuals with autism and their families. Our staff works every day with dedication and energy to realize these goals because we know that every person has unique potential. We offer the following programs: Vista Early Intervention, The Vista School, Vista Outreach Services, Vista Adult Day Services, and Vista Employment Services and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Represents the organization to all constituencies: students and customers; parents, guardians and other family members; school districts and payors; regulators and governmental organizations; politicians and other civil servants; employers and the business community; and donors and service organizations
  • Communicates direction and vision to internal and external audiences based upon strategy approved by the Boards of Directors
  • Creates, models, and sustains a healthy culture of achievement of mission, improvement of organizational performance, innovation, and continuous quality improvement
  • Leads Vista's Executive Team in order to develop, monitor, and execute approved strategy
  • Collaborates with Vista's Chief Financial Officer and the Boards of Directors to establish budgets, and assures timely and accurate financial reporting and successful annual audits
  • Manages organizational revenues and costs to achieve strategic objectives; negotiates material contracts; assures performance to budgeted goals
  • Identifies, implements, and oversees program changes and assists in developing and operationalizing new programs or service lines to take Vista to the next stage of growth
  • Assures compliance with all of the organization’s legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations
  • Completes other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position is responsible for supervising the Chief Financial Officer, Compliance Officer, Executive Director of Clinical Programs, Executive Director of Educational Programs, Director of Human Resources, Director of Development, Director and Quality, Training, and Research, and Executive Assistant..

EXPECTED SCHEDULE

The schedule for this position includes the potential need to work evenings, weekends, varying shifts and/or holidays due to community events, related focus groups, trainings, fundraising, or management of organizational crises situations as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in related field required
  • 10 years’ experience in executive management of a business or non-profit agency required
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial management, budgeting preparation, monitoring, and execution required
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation required
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, and set and achieve strategic objectives required
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures required
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Applied Behavior Analysis highly desired
  • Knowledge of legal, governmental, and regulatory requirements of non-profit organizations, governmental systems and programs, and Approved Private Schools highly desired
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and hard deadlines
  • Action-oriented, mission-driven, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, standing and reaching, often for extended periods of the workday.

This position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations to conduct organizational business as needed. This position is subject to indoor environmental conditions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

For this role, Vista Autism Services offers a competitive salary package of $140-160K plus competitive benefits plus a negotiable relocation stipend available to candidates outside of the commutable distance of Hershey, PA who are willing to move to Hershey, PA.
