Scion Staffing (www.scionstaffing.com) has been retained by East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) to conduct the search for a Part-time After School & Summer Program Instructor.

This Instructor II position is an entry-level role that will be based at EBALDC's Lion Creek Crossings location in East Oakland and will work with youth at two grade levels within K – 5th. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of related experience leading educational programs and a passion for working in diverse and under-resourced communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lion’s Pride Classroom Instruction

• Provide classroom instruction for Lion’s Pride youth, grades Kindergarten to 5th, using a STEAM based curriculum and Youth Program Quality (YPQ) standards.  Implement and develop program activities based on a science and cultural enrichment curriculum in tandem with OUSD Havenscourt Campuses.
• Provide support with reading groups, outdoor exercise and recreational games, arts & crafts, field trips, and parent engagement programs.

Coordination with Parents and Partners

• Provide good customer service, acting courteously, compassionately, and responsively to all parents and family members.
• Maintain good relationships and ongoing communication with youth participants, parents and guardians, OUSD Havenscourt Campus staff, and program partners.

Program Planning, Evaluation, and Reporting

• Accurately and efficiently enter data into various online customer tracking systems in a timely manner.
• Complete all necessary student paperwork such as sign-in sheets, enrollment forms, and permission slips.  Keep client files organized based on program standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of two years of experience in general service provision or youth programming.
• Demonstrates good oral presentation and instruction skills.
• Experience and proficiency in working in diverse, low-income communities with cultural competency and sensitivity, and inclusive practices.
• Fluency in Arabic and/or Spanish speaking, reading, and writing is preferred but not required.
• Able to use good judgement and seek advice when appropriate.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude, respect, and rapport with colleagues.
• Has at minimum a high school diploma or GED. 
• Passes criminal, DOJ, and other background checks.
• Provide current certificate that indicates freedom from infectious tuberculosis according to California Law.

COMPENSATION:

Up to $22.00/hour, depending upon experience, for a maximum of 30 hours per week. Additionally, EBALDC offers an excellent benefits package including full health coverage, 13 paid holidays, paid time off every 2nd Friday of the month, and more!
