Scion Staffing has been engaged to identify a Director of Adoption on behalf of our incredible nonprofit client in Portland, Oregon.  This full-time role offers rewarding work, on an international scale, in an incredible quality and care driven environment and it is available immediately!


SUMMARY:

The Director of Adoption provides staff supervision as assigned and ensures that all families receive a premium level of service throughout their adoption process. The Director of Adoption ensures that staff follow streamlined processes and procedures for families in all phases of adoption. The Director of Adoption supports the execution of the adoption program budget and is also responsible to maintain positive relationships with international team members.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works collaboratively with staff to ensure families receives holistic, comprehensive service.
  • Oversees and manages all aspects of adoption case management.
  • Supervises Adoption Team members as assigned.
  • Ensures clear processes and procedures for all phases of adoption process.
  • Maintains accurate materials regarding adoption programs on various media, including but not limited to written packets, portal, and website.
  • Proactively maintains positive family relationships, ensures client satisfaction and responds to any feedback from families.
  • Seeks continuous improvement in quality of family services.
  • Manages and oversees relationships with international team while progressing families’ adoption cases.
  • Works collaboratively to ensure family is prepared for their specific child and receives child specific education including but not limited to child’s age, special need, and resources within local community.
  • Ensures program goals are met and that adoption program budget is maintained.
  • Participates in licensure and accreditation processes as requested.
  • Assists with international adoption program development and accreditation as requested.
  • Displays excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize workload.
  • Displays excellent communication skills including in-person customer service, documentation, detail-orientation, and sensitivity with confidential documents and information; displays exceptional ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Ensures an exceptional experience through unwaveringly high levels of customer service with both internal and external audiences by being honest, warm, responsive, and thorough at all times.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Successfully completes fifteen (15) continuing education hours each year as required by Hague (or more as required by employee’s professional license).
  • Respectfully takes direction from the Vice President of Adoption and seeks consultation when appropriate.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Related Social Service field
  • 3+ years of related experience in Child Welfare, including Adoption Services. OR, Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Related Social Service field and 5+ years of experience child welfare. 
  • Minimum two years of staff supervision experience required. 
  • Advanced training in adoption-related topics required.
