Scion Nonprofit, has been engaged to conduct a search for a Communications Manager for our client, a faith-based nonprofit that promotes peace, understanding, justice and integrity. This is a part-time, fully remote, contract opportunity scheduled to last 6 plus months and is ready for immediate hire!

Responsibilities of this position include:
Project Management:
  • Manage recurring projects and event publicity, in a timely and coordinated manner.
  • Manage one-off projects, such as a print newsletter, in a timely and coordinated manner.
  • Provide a summary evaluation of meeting communications with recommendations.
Policy and Procedure:
  • Articulate extant, unwritten policy and procedure.
  • Identify needed policy that does not yet exist, prioritize the list, and develop as much of the policy as time allows. 
Storytelling:
  • With communications staff, manage the news feed and calendar so that the stories are compelling, accurate and well-written, represent the mission and community, and are compliant with policy.
Teamwork:
  • Keep the work of 3 communications staff members supported and integrated.
  • Facilitate weekly communications team meetings.
  • Rely on support from the General Secretary, communications team and others as needed to help with keeping the voice and culture centered in the communications.
  • Communicate and collaborate with program, development, data and administrative staff as needed.
 
What you need to be successful:
  • Extensive management experience with developing and instituting effective communications/marketing policy and strategy in multiple organizations.
  • Experience running an in-house creative agency preferred.
  • Current knowledge and insight of managing communications practices and techniques in multiple channels and a vision of how best to present information.
  • Superior writing, copywriting and editing skills.
  • Experience with marketing events and community in a way that isn’t selling but is inviting and filled with integrity.
  • Experience with managing communications to engage a diverse community and build relationships.
  • Love of working with creative people.
  • Demonstrated strong history of building trust and confidence among colleagues and successful collaboration, support and implementation of initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 is important, knowledge of Salesforce NPSP is a bonus

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate depending on experience along with the ability to work with a team that is hyper collaborative and inclusive in decision-making! In addition, this contract opportunity is set to last 6+ months with the potential to go longer.
