Scion Nonprofit Staffing is searching for a Maintenance Supervisor for a school-based nonprofit with an inspiring mission in Portland, OR. This fantastic direct-hire opportunity is full-time, onsite, and ready for immediate hire!
 

The Maintenance Supervisor performs general maintenance repairs; plans and supervises the daily maintenance services to ensure that all facilities, equipment, and mechanical systems are properly functioning throughout the organizations campus. This position works with the Operations Manager and supervises the team of maintenance employees and outside maintenance contractors.
 

This position with our Client requires employees to report to work at a physical location. As a cautionary measure, our Client is asking all employees to be fully vaccinated including booster by the date of hire. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and evaluates the work of the maintenance staff.
  • Assigns work orders and monitors progress of the work.
  • Directs an effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Makes recommendations to improve operational efficiency.
  • Schedules and supervises the work of contractors as necessary
  • Orders and maintains an accurate inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials. Maintains a clean and tidy working environment.
  • Works with the Operations Manager to identify and develop action plans for the completion of maintenance projects.
  • Assists as needed with event set-ups and traffic control.
  • Is particularly aware of safety problems and concerns throughout the school campus. Models, trains, and ensures that safety procedures are followed by staff.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies, legal requirements, ordinances, codes, regulatory standards and policies.
  • Maintains and promotes a professional working environment by fostering effective working relationships and modeling appropriate behavior.
  • Develops training and succession plans within the maintenance department.
  • Monitors and recommends environmental sustainability practices throughout the organization.
  • Participates as an essential employee during inclement weather emergencies and is on call for other emergencies.
  • Participates in other aspects of the life of the school as appropriate or assigned.
     
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of two years successful supervisory experience including organizing and directing a diverse crew of skilled and semi-skilled employees.
  • Limited Building Maintenance (BME) or Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license or higher.
  • Experience as a maintenance supervisor in a school setting is preferred.
  • Experience in building maintenance including HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, mechanical, roofing, carpentry, security, and fire safety systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate Facilities vehicles used on and off the campus.
  • Intercultural competence: ability to interact appropriately with persons of diverse backgrounds; ability to supervise and work effectively with diverse teams.
  • General digital literacy: proficiency in Google Suite and other web-based applications as appropriate to job duties, ability to use or learn to use facilities management applications, including Building Automation Systems, work order management software, and others.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screens.
  • Leadership skills, including demonstrated excellent work ethic and attendance record.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills: ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize tasks and projects appropriately.
  • Interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate, work effectively in teams, and maintain collegial relations with colleagues.
  • Ability to spend the majority (at least 6 hours) of each workday standing or walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis and 90 pounds on an occasional basis with or without assistance.
  • Ability to climb ladders to a height of 20 feet, and work on powered lifts to a height of 40 feet.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to spend the majority (at least 6 hours) of each workday standing or walking.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis and 90 pounds on an occasional basis with or without assistance.

  • Ability to climb ladders to a height of 20', and work on powered lifts to a height of 40'.

  • Dexterity and eyesight sufficient to use hand and power tools safely.

  • Ability to drive OES Facilities vehicles safely.

 

COMPENSATION & CAREER BENEFITS:
This amazing opportunity offers a competitive salary in the $66,000 to $72,000 range depending on experience in addition to a robust benefits package that includes medical plans through Providence, heath reimbursement account, HSA, dental, vision, life, voluntary life/AD&D, long term disability plans as well as a FSA and an employee assistance program.
