Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Communications and Development Manager for our client, a nonprofit research organization in the San Francisco Bay Area! This position drives impact and increases donors for phenomenal programs at this human-centric and well-revered international research organization. This full-time position is for immediate hire and offers an in-person/hybrid model (onsite and remote) preferred; remote work will be considered. Travel to the organization’s headquarters in Silicon Valley will be periodically required.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Communications and Development Manager will work firsthand driving fundraising goals, gift stewardship and support, in-person, and remote outreach, ensuring efficient gift processing, acknowledgment, and creating strategies to increase followers and convert them into donors. The primary responsibilities of this role include developing relationships with giving groups and societies, creating, and managing multimedia donor communications, and tracking and analyzing fundraising and acquisition campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
  • In collaboration with the Communications Director and communications team, develop and execute strategies to convert our clients’ voluminous social media audience to constituents and donors.
  • Identify and engage with additional audiences and track and analyze the efficacy of campaigns to optimize our client’s efforts.
  • Team up with the Director of Development and consultants, develop and drive fundraising strategy and creative direction for a far-reaching giving program – direct mail, online, crowdfunding, and social media.
  • Drive and grow recurring donor program(s) and develop new stewardship and communication strategies.
  • Be a proficient user and provide directions to staff on use of key software platforms (Salesforce NPSP, Pardot).
  • Create data and analytics reports to track campaign performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of related and relevant experience.
  • Ability to create a powerful narrative and utilize storytelling to draft mission-drive copy and content that inspires donors to give.
  • Knowledge of current nonprofit fundraising best practices is highly desired.
  • The ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with all stakeholders is critical in this role. 
  • Meticulous and able to complete complex projects efficiently and perform in a rapidly changing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent tech and software skills with proficiency in Salesforce NPSP or similar CRM for non-profits platform(s), and proficiency in Pardot or similar marketing automation tools. 
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office in Silicon Valley when needed in office and ability for occasional evenings and weekends to support in-person and remote events.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with social media channels, creating relevant content, developing, and executing social media advertising campaigns, creating, and sending emails with design templates.
  • Experience with marketing automation tools and knowledge of current nonprofit fundraising best practices is highly desired.
  • Ability to create basic video content with editing support from the team. 
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
