Scion Nonprofit Staffing, a full-service national staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct a search for a Directing Attorney – Access to Justice Programs for immediate hire with a reputable nonprofit devoted to providing free comprehensive legal services to vulnerable populations located in Los Angeles, CA! This is a Full Time, Direct Hire, and Hybrid opportunity.

As the Directing Attorney, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of various pro-per-service clinics and their staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee operations of various clinics.
  • Develop and implement initiatives addressing the legal needs of local, vulnerable communities.
  • Supervise and review legal tasks performed by staff including litigant screening, document preparation, and workshops/presentations as well as resolving litigant-related issues.
  • Oversee program workflows such as litigant intakes, task assignments, and improvement of clinic procedures.
  • Lead and perform staff management tasks such as recruiting and hiring operations, onboarding/offboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Identify, pursue, and maintain funding opportunities in collaboration with various teams.
  • Oversee grant management and serve as the lead for translating grant deliverables into program metrics, ensuring deliverables are met, tracked, and reported.
  • Develop legislative and regulatory proposals related to program work.
  • Establish metrics related to pro bono and volunteer participation as well as develop opportunities to train and mentor pro bono attorneys and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 2 current years of practicing law in California with a valid law license required.
  • 8+ years of experience practicing law.
  • 5-8+ years of experience with conservatorship, domestic or elder abuse, advance planning, trust and estates, or related areas within elder law or civil legal services.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
