Scion Nonprofit Staffing, an award-winning full-service staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an Executive Director on behalf of our client, a nonprofit organization focused on enhancing the lives of children and families in need. This full-time hybrid role is available for immediate hire to candidates located near Irvine, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY:
As the leader of this  501(c)(3) charitable Foundation, attached to a large values-based business, this role will oversee all aspects of its operations and strategic direction. The Executive Director will drive fundraising initiatives, manage and expand volunteer programs, and lead impactful grant-making efforts. The Executive Director will be instrumental in fostering and supporting both internal and external partnerships, collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure the foundation’s continued growth and success. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by expanding the foundation's reach and enhancing its ability to serve the community. Leading vision and purpose, this impactful role is charged with ensuring that the Foundation remains a catalyst for positive change in the lives of those it serves.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the primary representative of the Foundation, articulating its distinct mission and vision to both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Foster greater associate involvement with the Foundation by collaborating closely with internal business leaders and volunteers to enhance engagement.
  • Craft compelling cases for support and spearhead a comprehensive fundraising strategy aimed at meeting financial objectives, ensuring sufficient resources for the Foundation’s mission.
  • Engage directly with donors, driving fundraising efforts through strategic prospect development, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships, forming innovative partnerships with charitable organizations and nonprofit leaders in the community.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Special Projects to establish a strategic plan with clear, measurable goals around associate engagement, community impact, and organizational growth.
  • Manage the Foundation’s budget with fiscal discipline, ensuring financial health and adherence to sound financial practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with key departments, such as Communications, Finance, and particularly Legal, to support the Foundation’s goals.
  • Ensure the Foundation complies with all regulations and legal requirements for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt private foundations.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, including the accurate preparation and filing of IRS Form 990.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Chairman, and Board of Directors on official organizational correspondence, and work with designated officers to execute legal agreements.
  • Engage with the Foundation’s Board of Directors to develop collaborative strategies and ensure strong governance.
  • Lead a team of three direct reports, supporting their individual development and fostering an environment of continuous growth and learning.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication with vendors, employees, and committee chairs in both verbal and written formats.
  • Convey design concepts and needs for layouts, logos, and brochure designs with graphic designers.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university  
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of proven experience in nonprofit management, including expertise in fundraising, volunteer coordination, team development, and grant-making.
  • Proficient in active listening, interpreting information, negotiating, and building consensus, with the ability to translate concepts into actionable plans.
  • Capable of organizing, planning, and presenting ideas and strategies effectively to various audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, clients, and a diverse range of internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, meeting deadlines while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, able to convey the organization’s vision, objectives, and strategies.
  • Proven expertise in fundraising techniques and managing donor relationships and portfolios.
  • Experience in designing charitable programs and providing accurate, insightful reporting.
  • Able to maintain a high-level view while attending to granular details.
  • Possesses the professional maturity necessary to earn the trust and respect of senior leadership.
  • Known for integrity, high ethical standards, and a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead teams effectively.
  • Adept at working collaboratively across different functions and departments within the organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive base salary of $175,000 - $195,000 (DOE), this position offers a comprehensive benefits package to support employees and their families, Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, accident and legal insurance, and access to Health and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts. Additional benefits include paid leave, vacation, sick time, holiday, jury duty, and bereavement, a retirement plan, as well as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Compensation also includes the potential for bonuses, equity, and car allowances, subject to eligibility.
