Scion Nonprofit Staffing (www.scionnonprofitstaffing.com) has been engaged to conduct a search for a Paralegal for our client, a well-known agricultural health care provider focused on creating innovative healthcare solutions and benefits to their valued members based out of Southern California. This is a partial remote, direct-hire opportunity with an immediate need!
Overview
The Paralegal’s primary responsibility is to support our client’s legal team with legal research, drafting emails and responses, and preparing plan documents focused in the area of health plan law which covers laws and regulations that pertain to health plans and healthcare insurance providers. This role will be a partially remote position during COVID and  work under the direction of our attorneys.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Drafting, revising, reviewing, and finalizing contracts, researching laws and regulations for various jurisdictions, serving as an administrative liaison to coordinate work.
  • Supports the legal team in creating plan documents which includes SPDs, SBCs, SMMs, SARs and summary plan documents.
  • Manage, negotiate, and settle Subrogation liens under direction of legal counsel.
  • Prepares draft responses to questions regarding procedural issues .
  • Assists in furnishing governmental agencies with required reports (e.g. Form 5500).
  • Prepares licensure and certificates as needed.
  • Submit periodic filings with the U.S. Department of Labor, California Department of Insurance and Arizona Department of Insurance.
  • Prepare and file documents, e-filing.
  • Monitor status of proposed legislation and regulations of interest to members.
  • Organizing digital files.
  • Filling out legal forms as needed.
  • Drafting letters and responses.
  • Writing reports and legal documents.

What You Need to Be Successful
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA qualified program required.
  • Extensive healthcare experience: candidates with significant experience with healthcare licensing preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Highly attentive to details.
  • Must be creative, analytical, strategic thinker, confident and self-motivated.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills – verbal, written and active listener.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; clear, concise, and logical writing style.
