25 Aug Jonathan Smith Selected as Incoming Executive Director of Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health
Scion Executive Search is delighted to share that Jonathan Smith has been selected as the incoming Executive Director of Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health (LDCPH)! In this role, Jonathan will employ innovative strategic planning opportunities, ensure resources are allocated efficiently, and play a key role in identifying the complex needs of the organization and community.
Jonathan offers a wealth of nonprofit, grant management, and compliance experience. Exceedingly passionate about working in underserved communities, he expressed, “Life is like a marathon: Some people start the marathon ahead of the starting line, and some people start far behind the starting line. I exist to help those who are far behind the starting line catch up to everyone else and equip them with the tools necessary to become self-sufficient and maintain a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally.” Jonathan achieved a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University and a Master of Public Health from Dartmouth College.
Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health (LDCPH) is a Kansas-based organization dedicated to advancing health policies, preventing disease, and protecting the environment. Collaborating with the University of Kansas, LDCPH is the first Academic Health Department in Kansas and one of few in the country. As a quasi-governmental, independently governed organization, LDCPH serves as the local public health authority. It is recognized at state and national levels for its excellent public health service delivery and maintains strong partnerships with civic, academic, and social service communities, providing affordable services to all community members.
